El Paso, Texas – “Retro Garage House” Overview
This week the Tiny House Nation crew traveled to El Paso, Texas to create a tiny — 300 SQFT — Retro Garage House for a family of four: José and Stacy and their two precious daughters.
The family has been relocating often since José has been serving in the military but now that he’s ready to retire the family is ready to call a place their own. And that’s where the Tiny House Nation team comes in hand.
José is a major fan of working on cars while his wife Stacy has a HUGE love for retro design. And after José retires, he plans on working on cars full-time. The biggest challenge for John and Zack? Building a garage that can travel with their tiny house to support José’s automotive work.
Other challenges the team faced are:
- Creating a retro themed look with a slight automotive theme
- Two desks for the girls to study at home at
- Two sleeping lofts — one master one for the girls to share
- Adequate space for Stacy’s beloved retro couch
- Awning for José to work on cars
Our favorite part? The retro styled living room — black and white tiles complete with Stacy’s vivid retro couch! It’s a beauty. Take a peek below to see the family’s retro garage house.
The Tiny House Nation episode “300 Sq. Ft. Retro Garage House” aired on July 23, 2016 on FYI.
